Day two of training - back to work…
Now I need to figure out how I’m going to work out and get through my work day. The experiment for today is to walk that same 1.68 miles as yesterday after an eight-hour day at the desk. I’m also going to attempt to climb the six flights of stairs in the building where I work during my fifteen minute breaks (which I’m actually going to start taking, but that’s a rant for a different blog).
The walk yesterday started out tough. I felt like I hit “the wall” the second I stepped out the front door! By the time I got home, I felt good though: I was energised and had that pleasant tingling feeling in my skin that comes from being blasted with cold air while outside. I’ve never quite understood why I don’t continue exercising on a regular basis because I’m actually fond of the great outdoors, either. For some reason my mind and my body don’t seem to agree on that one and my mind will go through all kinds of excuses to get me to stay in. For example, I meant to go out for a second walk yesterday afternoon; however, my husband made a suggestion about going out with him before walking (which I misunderstood as him saying to pace myself and not walk again for the day). The outcome was that I didn’t walk.
As I said before, today’s goal is to walk the same 1.68 miles as yesterday plus trying to climb the six flights of stairs at work at least once during a break.
