Exercise History

This morning I got a good stretch of the legs on a 2.23 mile roundtrip walk. My route took me east to several blocks, north several more blocks, along the street near one of the local elementary schools that my kids attended, and back up the street by our recently vacated “old” hospital and our governor’s mansion.

Our city has a wonderful historic west side that is a great area to walk or jog; and this district is mapped for the convenience of our tourists. The views along this part of town include beautiful houses from the late 19th century set against the backdrop of the majestic Sierra Nevada. The trouble is that I don’t appreciate the area because we’ve lived within the district for so long and a person tends to become jaded to their immediate surroundings. This morning, I found myself enjoying the area anew.

Later today, I hope to get out again for either another walk or perhaps a short jog around the track of the nearby middle school. I not only need to exercise, I also need to clear my system of the food I overate last evening (see my companion blog for details).

Now it’s time to get ready for another work day.
