The Goal
By Administrator | July 5, 2006
For the past few weeks since I lost the initial weight from the new medication I’ve started, I’m hovering in the 203.5 to 204.5 pound range. My immediate goal is to break that magic 200 pound plateau and get back into the 100s again - something I haven’t managed for more than a decade.
During the three years my family spent in Japan (1988-1991), I worked with a hospital nutritionist and exercised almost daily by walking the streets of the Air Base where we lived. The result of the my efforts was to get myself down into the 160s from my pregnancy high of 222. Our return to the US in late 1991 brought about a return to the unhealthy fast food rut in which we all seem to find ourselves when time and money are short and I ballooned back up into the 200s again.
In 1995, I had a serious health issue that led to the diagnosis of high blood pressure and I’ve been on medication ever since. One thing led to another and I’ve been unable to maintain a decent diet and exercise program up until this point. That’s one of the reasons I’ve decided to compete in a 5k this September - I’ve been hoping to keep myself on a program.
I’m not doing so well yet, but I haven’t stopped trying.
