Inconsistencies

By Administrator | July 31, 2006

The exercise program still hasn’t been very consistent. I’m now down to sixty days until the 5k and I still have a lot of work to do. This morning I actually managed to jog (to use the term loosely) probably a total of two miles of my 3.56 mile loop and I’m very proud of myself. I also had a dose of endorphins hit pretty early on in the loop and I think that helped.

My entire circuit took a total of an hour. I’d really like to get myself down to a 45-minute 5k but don’t know if that’s realistic at this point. The only thing I can do right now is make sure that I go out every morning for the next two months until the XTerra 5k Lake Tahoe Scramble. A total of five people, myself included, are now registered for the race. I’m not planning to worry about my time but I do want to finish the course without making myself look too bad…

What’s really amazing to me right now is that fact that I, a person who has never been a huge fan of a strict exercise program, am actually enjoying my morning jog. When I got home this morning I felt a great sense of pride and achievement in what I’d accomplished - though I’m sure I’m still taking baby steps compared to most real joggers.

More tomorrow! :)
