Sounds Familiar

While I didn’t get out for those walks yesterday like I intended, I did manage to get in some good aerobic exercise through work. My job can consist of a lot of lifting and bending (pulling boxes of heavy files off storage shelves). Yesterday I did just that in reverse - our office acquired two full book carts of heavy legal texts that I moved onto high shelves in the very back of our storage area. This took me 30-45 minutes and I had definitely broken a sweat by the time I was done. I also spent another 30 minutes or so sweeping the length of the “vault” free of the rock salt our grounds crews had spread on the day we took our book trucks outside to go collect the books. This may be something I have to do continually for the next little while until all the salt is off the wheels of the trucks or I figure out some way to clean them. Either way, the extra exercise doesn’t hurt matters.
Two of my co-workers (in a four-person office) have been out on vacation this week. My supervisor has a separate office, so I’ve been alone in cubeville and I’m taking the time to enjoy some music while I’m working. I’ve been singing and, yesterday, even started dancing a little while I work. I was definitely a lot more active than I have been for some time. I’m really enjoying this freedom and I hope to figure out some way to continue enjoying music when my co-workers return; I just need to figure out a way to listen that won’t disturb them too much.
If I remember today, I’m definitely going to attempt to take my breaks and get outside to walk. I really need the fresh air and sunshine since I spend so much time cooped up at the office, at home, and in our vehicles. I never thought I’d miss the days when I had to walk everywhere…but I should really start doing that again. Walking is one of my favorite forms of exercise!
