The Worst Mistakes

By Administrator | January 11, 2007

Humans are prone to making errors at work - we’ve probably all done something incorrect on the job that was caught, and corrected, by another person at a later date. This is entirely understandable and we have to remember that we are all “only human.”

The trouble is that some people’s jobs can literally lead to life-and-death situations; especially people who work in the medical profession. Incorrect diagnoses and test results can lead someone to have unnecessary procedures and to be prescribed medications they don’t need. This, in turn, can lead to actual medical problems if the person was healthier than believed in the first place.

Don’t believe every odd test result and diagnosis that comes out of the blue. Have the testing redone or see someone for a second opinion before proceeding. While a delay of a day or so might cause problems if the diagnosis or result is correct, proceeding too quickly will more than likely create unnecessary complications. These are worse mistakes than any others that can be made on the job because they are life-and-death situations.

Always remember the human factor and think twice before proceeding with a course of action that you might later come to regret.
