Oscar and the Snowy Sunday
By Administrator | February 25, 2007
This evening is that most glittering of Hollywood events: the Oscars. Our family has an annual contest where we all print out our own Oscar ballot and try to predict the winners - the person with the most correct selections gets a prize (usually a gift card to to either a book or electronics store) and the ability to gloat over the rest of the family. This year is going to be a little different, because one of our family members will be attending a party elsewhere, though her ballot has been cast for our family contest. We will miss her, but I hope she has a great time.
I’d like to wish the Little Miss Sunshine group, especially Abigail Breslin, the best of luck at the ceremony tonight. I’d love to see them win one or more of the golden statues because that is the funniest movie I’ve seen in a long time and our family really identified with those loveable misfits. If you haven’t yet seen the movie, you really should. I can almost guarantee you’ll laugh until you cry.
Also, if you’re a movie fan who happens to be in the Reno area on March 8 and 9, 2007, check out the Reno Film Festival’s Oscar Nominated Short Film event; we show the Oscar nominees that don’t receive release in most neighborhood theaters.
Thinking of the Oscars brings to mind thoughts of sunny southern California. Here in northern Nevada we are having a cold and snowy day. If the female celebrities were to attend the Oscars in our part of the country today, they would most likely be bundled in wraps that would hide their glittering jewels and gowns and I’m sure that would detract even more from their potential enjoyment of the grand event. I must say that I’d really rather be in sunny So-Cal than this snowstorm right now…
