A Woman On The Edge

Late Winter Wonderland

By Administrator | February 27, 2007

We awoke this morning to a blanket of heavy wet snow.  After the gloomy and windy weekend, the brilliant sunshine glistening off the pristine white was gorgeous - and painful to the eyes.  The Sierra Nevada to the west of us looked a little like the “misty mountains” (some of you may recognize the reference), as my middle daughter pointed out to me on our morning drive to the college.

My first task of the day was to shovel the white stuff off our sidewalk and vehicles so I got an early aerobic workout.  The snow lifted easily onto the shovel, but was so easily compacted (great snowball snow) that I had to keep knocking the shovel in order to clear enough to pick up the next scoop.  That was a little more time-consuming than I would have liked.

Still, despite the icy roads, travel to work wasn’t too bad and enough of the stuff melted during the day to make the drive home tolerable.  If we’re going to have snow down here in the valleys, this is the best kind.
