Good Friday

By Administrator | April 6, 2007

Though I never really felt I belonged to the religion into which I was baptised, I did attend services and catechism on occasion so I take note when a day like today comes up.   Good Friday to me today is actually more of a reminder that I lost both and uncle and a grandmother during Holy Week - one to a heart attack, the other to cancer - so I’m reminded of the sacrifices certain religions “celebrate” at this time of year.  Good Friday represents the day Christ died on the Cross at Calvary and is celebrated as a holy day by most Christian religions.  In the part of the United States where I now live, Good Friday is a day like any other and is not considered a religious holiday.

The main reason I’ve made mention of the fact that today is Good Friday is that I do want to at least make mention of the two relatives I lost over Holy Week: my grandmother, Mary O’Reilly and my uncle Glenn Boyce.  I lost another uncle, Earl Boyce, just last month and dedicate this post to him as well.  They’ve all been in my thoughts a lot these past few days.
