Another Weekend

By Administrator | April 14, 2007

As we left work yesterday, my boss commented that the week had gone quickly and I said I thought they all went pretty quickly and that I didn’t know where the time went.  I remember back in the dark ages of my childhood when time seemed to drag on so long that I thought events would never arrive or that I’d never get through that school day.  Older people often commented on how they didn’t know where the time went and I would wonder what they meant.  Now I know.

The problem is that, if the work week goes quickly, the weekend goes even faster.  We get just over sixty hours to get caught up on sleep, chores, and pursue the activities we enjoy.  I’ve figured that the work week consists of forty hours (more or less) on the job, at least a couple hours getting ready and traveling to/from work (unless you’re unlucky enough to have a huge commute), plus any time spent preparing meals, doing chores, or generally recuperating from all of the above.  That’s why our time disappears without us realizing where it’s gone.

I guess this is what we call “life.”  The problem is that many of us aren’t enjoying, or living, our lives as much as we could.  How many of us can say we love our jobs so much that we can’t imagine doing anything else?

The next time you try to remember where your time went and why you can’t really remember having done anything interesting, step back for a moment.  Go do something outrageous - or at least something different.  That’s what I’m planning to do in the near future.

If you’re curious about what I’ve got planned, then stay tuned…
