Another Day

By Administrator | July 1, 2007

We had a visit from hubby’s aunt today (always a welcome occurrence) and were talking about the trip we’re taking down to visit her in the Bay Area in a few weeks.  The three of us will probably go biking - which should be a lot more fun at sea level.  I can’t remember the last time I rode a bike down in California, where I grew up, but that’s something I did quite often as a kid.  Biking, horseback riding, swimming, roller skating, and a lot of walking (to/from school and most anywhere else I needed to go as a kid).

Today I had the rather uncomfortable experience of having my legs tell me that I needed to get out on the bike.  My plan had been to go out around sunset, at about 8pm, but my legs started to feel twitchy and the muscles on the backs of them were beginning to hurt.  Hubby and I ended up out on the road before 6pm while the sun was still pretty high in the sky.  The temperature was also still a bit high, about 90 degrees at one point, but we came back along a shadier route than the one we took so the trip wasn’t too unpleasant.

The trip stats for the day: 3 miles at an average speed of 8mph, maximum speed 13.2 mph, and a total ride time of just under 23 minutes.  I’m well ahead of where I was last month since I didn’t start riding regularly until around the 17th of the month.  I’ll be interested to find out how my total stats stack up at the end of July.

[…] The Bride is getting the Exercise Twitch. She’s planning a ride in the Bay Area and I bet she’ll soon start thinking about the Three Albertsons Bike Ride around Carson. […]
