Happy Birthday, U.S.A.
By Administrator | July 4, 2007

This may be old-fashioned of me, but July 4th still makes me feel patriotic and nostalgic. Today is the day when I feel the need to have barbecued hot dogs and potato salad, with homemade apple pie and ice cream for dessert, while watching a baseball game (preferably the Cubs at Wrigley) - and I also look forward to the fireworks that end the day.![]()
Today we celebrate the 231st anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and the beginnings of what would become the United States. Sometimes I wonder what our founding fathers would think of us now considering everything we’ve been through. No matter what, we’re still one of the greatest nations in the world, and I’m thankful to have been born American.
Our family has another, more personal, reason to celebrate the 4th: the birth of someone very special to us on this day in 1983. Happy Birthday, sweetie - I hope you have a great one!
