What a Ride!

By Administrator | July 4, 2007

This morning was a good one, bike-wise, with hubby and I riding more than seven miles around town.  I really felt as though I could have ridden longer today, though I know better than to push myself too far too fast (plus, we had to get home for various reasons).  The stats for today according to my trusty little trip computer: 7.2 miles at an average speed of 7.5mph, max speed 11.7mph, and a total ride time of 56:45.  That takes my mileage total for the first four days of July up to 15.4.  What really makes me happy is that I feel as though my “muscle memory” is working in my favor; I biked back and forth to work around this town as a young adult and I get the feeling that my legs remember those days, even though the rest of me might not.

Very soon, I’m getting back into the pool to add some swimming to my training regimen so I can build my upper arm strength.  I do get some bicep/tricep exercise at work by lifting some good-size boxes of files onto the upper shelves and I’m hoping that translates into easier lap swims when I hit the water.  The trick will be increasing my stamina so that I can swim the length of our local pool a few times each visit.

By the end of 2007, I suspect I’ll look and feel quite a bit different than I do right now.  I’m looking forward to finding out just what my body can do!
