Potter Rules!

We just got back from a midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and I have to say this is the best of the movies so far. I’d been worried that too much of the book would be dropped due to length restrictions, but I give Michael Goldenberg a thumbs-up for his screenplay. Many of the most exciting parts of the book were kept and a few nuances were added that heightened my emotional investment in the story. The actors all did wonderfully; I have to agree that Imelda Staunton was much cuter than the Umbridge I imagined (though she did manage to make me dislike the character just as much in the movie as I had in the book), and I was happy to see so many of the adults working together as members of the Order.
Later, after some sleep and reflection, I’ll probably write a more in-depth review of the movie. I just wanted to say that I recommend this one to anyone who loves the Harry Potter series…or anyone who just loves a good movie. Get yourself to a theater as soon as you can!
