A Woman On The Edge

Saddled Up

By Administrator | September 4, 2007

After not biking for another two weeks, I finally got myself back out on the road this evening for a ride.  My stats: 3.1 miles at an average speed of 8 mph, top speed 12.3 mph, and a total ride time of 23:17.  This was a tough one and I didn’t think I’d get as far as I did because the first mile was a killer.

August turned out to be a bust on the biking front since I only took four rides and 11.5 miles.  I’d like to do much better than that for September and not allow myself to take such long breaks in the future.

The other good news is that I did take a morning break at work this morning and I walked the entire block where I work for a total of fifteen minutes.  The walk wasn’t quick, but the air was really nice, and stretching my legs felt great.  I’m hoping I can do the same again tomorrow - and maybe go out for a second fifteen minutes during the afternoon.

My goal for the rest of September is to get some form of exercise every day.  I’ve also got to really start focusing on getting myself into good enough shape so I can start actually training to participate in a triathlon.  In order to do that, I think I need to drop a few pounds and work on building up my stamina, which will be my task for the rest of 2007.  I can evaluate my progress and decide on a course of action for 2008 when the new year arrives.

And so the struggle continues…
