Come Saturday Morning
By Administrator | September 8, 2007
Bike riding is much easier and more fun first thing in the morning. Today I went out for a quick spin around the block…and ended up riding 5.5 miles (average speed 8mph, top speed 15.4 mph, and a total ride time of 41:31). The morning was so beautiful that I just couldn’t bear to head for home. If I’m feeling really energetic this evening and can manage another 2.9 miles I can beat my mileage for the entire month of August…
Today I’m also heading over to sign up for the Great American Weight Loss Challenge. My goal is to get a jump-start on losing some weight so I can start training more seriously because I’m just not feeling like I’m making much progress; things are very much two steps forward, three steps back at this point.
So the weekend is off to a fairly good start on the exercise front. I have a lot of other plans I hope to accomplish before heading back to work on Monday so I’ve got to get to work now.

Good for you. I just read up on the Great American Weight Challenge, and it sounds–well, sound. Eight weeks should give the participants enough time to get in the groove with some new eating and moving habits. My two cents: Don’t be TOO ambitious, and DO give yourself lots of credit for joining up and doing your best! You’re my hero –

Thank you for the advice. After many years of false starts and disappointments, I do hope this time will be different - and I don’t really have a goal in mind other than to, hopefully, get myself into a healthier routine. I’ll be very happy to lose a few pounds in the process, but I hope I won’t be too hard on myself if that doesn’t happen.
And you’re my hero…I hope someday to enjoy running half as much as you do!
