Yesterday Once More
By Administrator | September 9, 2007
Most of my day today was spent doing chores of one kind or another. I started the morning by changing an outside light bulb and found that I needed to hose cobwebs off the front of the house which led to the realization that all our shoes needed to be moved out of the entryway because I got the floor wet (we have no weather-stripping on the front door). Then I cleaned out my van. After dropping eldest daughter off at work, I did the weekly grocery shopping and wiped down the interior of the fridge before putting the food inside. I also picked up a shoe rack and moved the shoes - which led to the cleaning of the laundry room - which led to the cleaning of the kitchen. Putting new sheets on middle daughter’s bed led to the laundering of her old sheets, her blankets, and her comforters.
This cleaning frenzy reminds me of just how much work I did around the house when the kids were small and I didn’t have a full-time outside job. I don’t clean as often as I should these days, as evidenced by some of the ancient stuff I found and threw out, but I am starting to catch up a bit. Cleaning the house has always been a very cathartic experience for me and I feel a great sense of satisfaction after having put in a full days manual labor.
I’m a bit tired, but I still plan to get out for a quick bike ride. My plan had been to do a little Film Festival stuff first, since we have an event coming up in a couple weeks, but I think I should get outside before things get too dark and the little energy I have left fades away with the setting sun…
