I’m Still Standing

By Administrator | April 29, 2008

Even though I haven’t posted anything on here for awhile. This last month has not been my most motivated on many fronts and I just didn’t feel as though I’ve had much to say about anything. I also didn’t finish Script Frenzy - though I’d like to congratulate Gorgeous Nerd on the weekend writing marathon in which she finished her script for the contest. Good job!

We’re having a lot of shaking and blowing here in Nevada. Faults in the Reno area have been active pretty consistently since an earthquake hit the eastern city of Wells back in February - and some of us folks here in Carson City were awakened on Friday evening by the 4.7 that hit just west of Reno. Needless to say, a lot of people and animals are on edge about the whole situation, though I personally would much rather deal with earthquakes than tornadoes, typhoons, blizzards, floods, etc.

The other issue we’re having today is a fire in the northern portion of Washoe Valley between Carson City and Reno (near Pleasant Valley). The fire started when the strong winds downed a power line that sparked some dry grass. This isn’t an unusual occurrence for our area, but I don’t like seeing such large fires so early in the season because they don’t bode well for the summer months.

I’m going to be involved in film festival stuff for the next week or so and I probably won’t post again during that time period, but I’m hoping to do better once things calm down again.

    Thanks a bundle!

I think SF was just badly timed this year. I mean, a lot goes on in April: end of semester, taxes, film festival prep, and so on. I’m just lucky I had a free night to finish in.
